When and for how long did you play with the Ravens/RGIH?

I started playing hockey in grade 9 and I joined the Midget A team for RGIH. At the time, there were 3 teams, 2 midget divisions, A and AA, which were grade 8-12, and a pee wee/novice team that was anyone younger than that. I played with RGIH until Juvenile.

Why did you start playing?

I grew up skating (in hockey skates), playing street hockey with the neighborhood boys, my brother always played hockey (he is a goalie) and Canucks games were always watched in our house. I loved the game and wanted to play, but not with the boys. Girls hockey was just starting to get some recognition so I joined.

What’s your best memory/highlight from being with the Ravens/RGIH?

I loved the traveling and tournaments. Most memorable would be winning the chance to participate in the provincials in the midget AA division in grade 12.

What are you up to now/what have you been up to since graduating from the Ravens/RGIH?

I have always enjoyed playing hockey, and have played in various leagues over the years, but I am currently playing Women’s hockey in Richmond. I work for our family business, have two kids and my daughter is on the initiation team and I am happy to be helping the team on the ice.

Why would you recommend girls sign up to play hockey?

It’s a great game and it’s fun!!! I am so thrilled to see that girls hockey has grown so much over the years, opening doors for opportunities for girls in the sport.
