You will have to pay for the program and you will be reimbursed for the expense once you have finished it. When you register for the course, use the sameemail address that you used for your Hockey Canada Registry ID to ensure that your results are attached to your ID.

COACH CERTIFICATION

Information for all coach clinics can be found here: http://bchockey.net/Clinics/Clinics.aspx

Coach 1 is required for all new coaches wanting coach Initiation or Novice. The program is approximately 4 hours (3 hours in class & 1 hour on ice)

Coach 2 is required for all coaches wanting to coach Atom to Juvenile C and Atom Rep. The program is delivered in two parts. In Part A, you complete the online program which covers topics such as The Coaching Code of Ethics, Skills, Drills and Thrills, Dealing with Athletes, Dealing with Parents, and the Philosophy of Coaching. In Part B, you attend classroom and on-ice sessions. Part A is called HU-Online Coach 1/2. You should take this clinic now even if you cannot take the Coach 2 classroom/ice session until after the season starts. Then you will be ready to sign up for the Coach 2 clinic as soon as a session is scheduled and you will not have to wait. You can register for the HU-Online Coach 1/2 clinic here. http://bchockey.net/Clinics/Clinics.aspx

INFORMATION FOR GIRLS WHO WANTS TO COACH OR BE ON ICE HELPERS

A.  Roster the girls as Volunteers (On Ice Helpers)
(Under 16 years of age)

  1. As on ice helpers they would just participate on the ice assisting with practices, helping to run drills, push pucks etc., they would not coach in any capacity.
  2. During this time they would have to wear the appropriate gear as outlined in the On Ice Helpers bulletin.

B.  Roster the girls as Coaches (Turning 16 before December 31)

  1. They would be able to assist in games and practices, be on the bench during games
  2. They would have to obtain the following certifications:

i.    Appropriate coaching level for the team (I’m guessing since they want to help with younger players it’s a Recreational team so they would require Coach 2 – Coach Level or Coach 1, again depending on the team level).

ii.    CATT

iii.    Respect in Sport

SCHEDULES

Each team's weekly practice schedule will be bulk imported into their calendar.  The association-wide schedule is posted here as a convenience for coaches that want to try and trade ice, etc.
