When and for how long did you play with the Ravens/RGIH?

I played for 8 years with the Ravens/RGIH. I joined RGIH in PeeWee and played until Juvenile.

Why did you start playing?

I had always loved playing sports as a kid and I grew up in a hockey family. My dad was a hockey player who had played his whole life, and we always had NHL games on in the house. When I started to become more interested in hockey, I wanted to try it out myself and my parents signed me up with RGIH.

What’s your best memory/highlight from being with the Ravens/RGIH?

The friendships and community that you build from the countless games, tournaments, and celebrations. You spend a lot of time with your teammates and I had so much fun over the years. I am still friends with some of the women I met back when we first joined the league as kids.

What are you up to now/ what have you been up to since graduating from the Ravens/RGIH?

After graduating I went to university and completed my Bachelors of Business Administration. I worked in Recruitment and HR in downtown Vancouver for a few years, where I remained involved in hockey and played in adult women and co-ed leagues in Burnaby and Delta. I then decided to go back to school at UBC Okanagan where I completed my Master of Education. This past year I returned to Vancouver where I am now working in Change Management. Over the Spring and Summer I have been working on my golf game, and I am hoping to join another women’s adult hockey league sometime soon!

Why would you recommend girls sign up to play hockey?

First and most importantly, it is so much fun to play. It’s also a great way to meet new girls and build lasting friendships. I think it’s an amazing sport where you can build your skills as an athlete, while also learning life skills around teamwork, leadership and dedication which will last you a lifetime.
