Rep Coaching Announcement
The Richmond Ravens Female Hockey Association Board of Directors is pleased to announce the following rep coaching appointments for the 2017/2018 season. We wish them the best of luck in their positions. Go Ravens Go!
A. J. Sander – Head Coach
A.J. has coached for 35 years and is a certified NCCP Advanced 1 Coach. He has over 30 years of high-level coaching experience, including being a three time head coach of the Lower Mainland U17, U16 Male teams and U16 Female team in Hockey Canada's Best Ever Program. He has been the Ravens Midget A coach for the past ten seasons. He is the recipient of six Coaching Excellence Awards, a two time recipient of Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association's Coach of the Year Award, recipient of Richmond Minor Hockey Association Coach of the Year, recipient of Richmond Ravens Coach of the Year and Richmond Sports Council Coach of the Year for all sports in Richmond. He has guided thirteen teams to Provincial Championship appearances with Richmond Minor and Richmond Ravens, including guiding the Ravens Midget A team to 10 consecutive Provincial Championship appearances and medaling 9 consecutive years: 4 Golds, 4 Silvers and 1 Bronze.
Mitch Ward – Head Coach
Mitch has over 15 years of coaching experience and has spent the past 10 years with the Richmond Ravens Female program. Mitch is a certified NCCP Advanced 1 Coach and has managed coaching clinics for beginner and intermediate coaches. His extensive background in Education is an asset when working with players of all ages. Mitch is a dedicated skill development coach providing invaluable stick management skills, shooting and game play tactics. Mitch has spent the past 19 years as a scout for the Calgary Hitmen. He travels throughout Western Canada looking for and identifying players for the WHL Bantam draft. As a player, Mitch played for the Kelowna Spartans and Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCJHL and for Williams Lake Mustangs of the RMJHL.
Pee Wee AA
Gordon Taylor – Head Coach
Gord has coached the Richmond Ravens for the last 5 years. He has coaching experience at the Novice to Bantam levels in male hockey and Novice to PeeWee levels in female hockey. While coaching the Ravens, Gord was also a non-parent coach at the rep Atom, rep PeeWee and rep Bantam Levels with Richmond Minor Hockey Association. Gord values attention to detail and individual skill development thus ensuring his players' ability to play the game at a high level. Gord creates a challenging environment to allow the athletes to develop to their greatest potential while teaching the strategies and tactics of the game of hockey.
